Dear Mandy, Any way you look at it the trip is worth the effort on a clear day the scenery is breathtaking (take it slowly and enjoy) . Your best option is to join a day tour, regularly organized by Hyurservice one of the leading travel agents in Yerevan, contact them they have a stand in Annie Hotel and the main office nearby. These tours have a guide that fully explains everything, once there you will have to go uphill from the parking lot 200meters max. For the church there are some 35 steps. But you can see it from downstairs too, this is where the spear which pierced Jesus was kept, then later transferred to Holly Echmiyadzin. On the same tour you will visit other places too.......
