NWS is forecasting as much as10-20 inches of rain through Thursday for coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry. Totals as high as 30 inches are possible in areas, the weather service said.

BOSTON - Before the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby approach Massachusetts, the WBZ Weather Team is continuing the NEXT Weather Alert for another round of downpours Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

Northern Florida, the coastal regions of Georgia and South Carolina and parts of North Carolina are bracing for severe rain and catastrophic flooding this week as the Debby storm system moves up and east.

Tropical Storm Debby continues to pound the Southeast with soaking rain and life-threatening flooding Tuesday night, as more than a month’s worth of rain has already deluged some parts of Georgia and South Carolina.

New Castle County is under a flood watch Tuesday, but the biggest rains should come later in the week as the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby hit Wilmington. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the tropical storm was sitting along the Georgia-South Carolina border and predicted to move into the Atlantic Ocean before landing and traveling through South Carolina.

Once the storm moves over the region, Debby is forecast to track along the Eastern Seaboard, bringing it closer to the Northeast later this week. So what does that spell for New England? Here’s what we know about Debby and what potentially lies ahead for our region.
