San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR on Thursday that he expects all-everything running back Christian McCaffrey — who has been on injured reserve since Sept. 14 with bilateral Achilles tendinitis — to finally return to the field Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Christian McCaffrey took a few minutes to address reporters Friday for the first time since Sept. 12, which was the last time he spoke publicly before going on injured reserve for Achilles’ tendinitis in both feet.
