The California Highway Patrol said the bicyclist was going eastbound American Avenue in the eastbound lane of traffic, just west of Chestnut Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. CHP spokesman Mike Salas said it’s believed a black Chevrolet truck was swerving in the roadway and struck the bicyclist and left the scene.
