The Texas National Guard removed seven soldiers from Illinois amid questions about their physical fitness. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called it a return to “standards.”

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to allow for the deployment of National Guard troops in Illinois to protect federal agents conducting immigration enforcement.

A lower court judge issued an Oct. 9 order blocking the deployment of the National Guard in Illinois for at least two weeks.
