Community mourns retired sheriff's deputy Larry Henderson, killed while directing traffic
Henderson retired in December after working 33 years with the Hamilton County Sheriff's office, according to a Facebook post on Dec. 20 from the department. He worked as a bomb technician and was a member of the dive team that performed water rescues and searches. After retirement, he continued to serve as a special deputy.

Retired Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Henderson was struck by a car and killed on May 2 while assisting with traffic during University of Cincinnati graduation ceremonies. The driver of the car, 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr., now faces an aggravated murder charge in connection with the crash.
Henderson died in the line of duty after decades of dedicating his life to the front lines, including as a Marine.
During the next few days, officers from across Greater Cincinnati are stepping in to cover shifts so Hamilton County deputies can grieve, reflect, and honor deputy Larry Henderson.
