If the Texas Longhorns have to turn to backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell, head coach Steve Sarkisian knows they'll be in good hands.

Caldwell has become a microwave of sorts for Texas’ kitchen. He came off the bench to snap off a 50-yard sprint against Sam Houston earlier this season and then became a cult hero during SEC play with a 26-yard throw late against Florida after Manning lost his helmet and that spine-tingling overtime dime to Mosley.

Texas fans might see more of Caldwell in their next matchup against the Vanderbilt Commodores, as Texas coach Steve Sarkisian gave an update on Manning during his weekly Monday morning news conference.

The run-pass option called by Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was tagged as a fade route by Caldwell at the line of scrimmage and Mosley showcased his route-running precision in getting a clean outside release to create the separation for Caldwell to deliver the pass just well enough to score the touchdown.
