Hurricane Flossie continued to weaken as a Category 1 hurricane off Mexico's southwestern Pacific coast with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. It's expected to remain offshore and dissipate Thursday,

Barry, the second named storm of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, became a tropical depression by Sunday night, when it made landfall shortly before 11 p.m. ET. It made landfall over Mexico's east coast about 15 miles south-southeast of Tampico, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Hurricane Flossie has strengthened to a Category 2 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast. The National Hurricane Center reports the storm has maximum sustained winds of 100 mph.
