Deadly shooting under investigation on Milwaukee’s East Side
Milwaukee police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Friday morning on the city’s east side. Officers were called East Knapp Street, near North Prospect Avenue, just before 2 a.m. in Milwaukee’s Yankee Hill neighborhood. Police blocked off the street as investigators focused their attention on an apartment building in the area.
Schnier also said police obtained footage from Avli Milwaukee, the Brewers Hill restaurant where she works. In it, she is seen drinking six glasses of wine and another alcoholic beverage before leaving the establishment around 8:30 p.m., Schnier testified. The crash was reported to police about 10 minutes later.
Zach LaVine’s ankle injury adds another hurdle to Milwaukee’s trade interest as Sacramento’s season continues to unravel.

Milwaukee's 'Slice of Ice' opens for the season
Milwaukee's "Slice Of Ice" ice skating rink opened for the season Friday. The rink is in Red Arrow Park. Skating is free for those who bring their own skates. Skate rentals are available on site. Free ADA ice sleds are available on a first-come, first-served basis for people with mobility issues.
Roughly 400 large leaf piles have been reported and documented. Piles still are being added, following review by DPW.

Milwaukee's 16th Street bridge to remain closed until April 2026
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) announced on Friday, Dec. 19 that the 16th Street viaduct will remain closed to traffic until April 2026.
Milwaukee clearly thinks acquiring Zerpa is worth trading an outfielder (Collins) who just finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting with an OPS near .800 and a reliever (Mears) who had an ERA over half a run lower than Zerpa’s last year.
In Milwaukee, the total property tax levy increased by 2.9%, or $27 million, from 2024 to 2025, City Comptroller Bill Christianson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an email. From 2023 to 2024, the city's total propety tax levy was up 12.9%, or $108.2 million.
