NASA is looking for new ideas for moon landers to help astronauts return to the surface of the moon as progress for SpaceX's Starship has come slowly.
NASA says it's considering bids from other private space companies over concerns that Elon Musk's SpaceX is behind schedule. Musk fired back on X, writing, "SpaceX is moving like lightning compared to the rest of the space industry.
As of Tuesday, Oct. 21, the moon phase is New Moon. This means that 0% of the moon will be lit up tonight, according to NASA's Daily Moon Observation. The next full moon will be on Nov. 5.
China aims to put its astronauts on the moon by 2030. For NASA to get back there first, it needs SpaceX to quickly complete its Starship rocket — but it faces major hurdles.
