SANTA ANA — A 41-year-old man with a previous DUI conviction was found guilty Monday of second-degree murder in an alcohol-fueled crash in Santa Ana that killed his girlfriend.

Kristil Krug told police in Broomfield, Colorado, that she and her husband, Dan Krug, were receiving threatening texts and emails from an ex-boyfriend. Two months later she was dead, but her alleged stalker had an alibi.

Police said the suspect intentionally hit the victim with a vehicle Sunday at Winchester Boulevard and Tisch Way.

He made multiple searches for “dismemberment and best ways to dispose of a body” and “how long before a body starts to smell.”
