The National Weather Service warns that in addition to the extensive snow cover, these storms could cause blizzard and “whiteout conditions” from Tuesday through Wednesday and into Thursday, in some cases. These conditions, the NWS warns, could be dangerous for travel.
As winter weather ramps up in intensity, the National Weather Service is working to fill key roles, such as meteorologists, technical experts and scientists.
The National Weather Service expects rain to begin after 5 p.m. in Eastern Mass. and continue overnight. A cold front will arrive overnight, bringing Boston temperatures below 30 degrees for much of Thursday, with winds of 10 to 15 mph making it feel closer to zero degrees by Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service forecasts rain and a wintry mix for New York City, with high wind gusts and a chance of snow. No hazardous conditions are expected, but caution is advised.
