Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered two rescue planes be sent to the Netherlands on Friday after violence targeting Israeli football fans broke out in Amsterdam overnight. Videos circulating on social media showed street clashes overnight and riot police intervening.

Israel was sending commercial planes to the Netherlands on Friday to bring home Israeli soccer fans after overnight attacks in Amsterdam that officials described as antisemitic, although there was evidence of provocative chanting from Israeli fans.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been informed of the details of "a very violent incident" targeting Israeli citizens in Amsterdam, his office said on Friday. He directed that two rescue planes be sent immediately to assist citizens there,

The incidents come amid heightened global tensions related to the ongoing Gaza conflict, and Israeli citizens in Amsterdam have been advised by Israel’s national security ministry to remain in their hotels until further notice.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's office said he is aware of the violence in Amsterdam and directed rescue planes to be dispatched immediately to help citizens.
