A 32-year-old woman faces a charge of animal cruelty in connection with a dog getting shot with a pellet gun earlier this month.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A New Bedford woman who allegedly shot a dog with a pellet gun earlier this month is now facing charges. According to police, officers met with a woman on March 1 who claimed her dog had been shot with pellets. Security cameras reportedly captured the sound of two loud bangs with her dog visibly injured, limping in pain.

The New Bedford Police Department said a woman was charged with animal cruelty after an incident on March 1. 32-year-old Lynette Ayala was charged with one count of animal cruelty. Police said they responded to a report of a woman who said her dog was shot with a pellet gun.
