LAFAYETTE PARISH — A national movement calling itself “No Kings” made its way to downtown Lafayette Saturday, as hundreds gathered at Prejean Point to protest what organizers describe as authoritarian actions by President Trump.

Millions gathered in cities across the U.S. and Europe on Saturday as part of the No Kings protests, demonstrating against President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies.

Salsa dancing, Bad Bunny songs, billowing flags and chanting protesters took over the streets around the Torch of Friendship monument during Saturday's "No Kings" protest in downtown Miami.

One notable incident came out of Jackson Township, Ohio, where a No Kings participant’s leg was injured in a hit-and-run. Witnesses told local outlets that a man driving a white pickup truck deliberately veered onto grass where protesters were seated, hitting a 53-year-old woman, before speeding off.
