At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 84.26 against the greenback, registering a rise of 5 paise over its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee depreciated 22 paise to close at an all-time low of 84.31 against the US dollar.

The Indian Rupee hit a record low against the US dollar, closing at 84.40 due to foreign investor withdrawals and a strong dollar. Despite some relief from falling crude and gold prices, the rupee is expected to remain under pressure.

Forex traders said investors were also cautious ahead of the US Fed meeting outcome. Moreover, overnight gains in crude oil prices also weighed on the local unit.

The Indian rupee touched its all-time low on Tuesday, pressured by the dollar's rise to a more than four-month peak and on likely outflows from local equities. The rupee hit a low of 84.4125 before ending at 84.
