CAIRO, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Israeli forces stepped up bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Sunday killing at least 23 people, Palestinian medics said, with over half the deaths in northern areas where the army has waged a month-long campaign it says is to prevent Hamas from regrouping.

At least 47 Palestinians were killed and dozens others were injured on Friday in Israeli airstrikes on the central Gaza Strip areas of Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Zawayda, according to the Palestinian official news agency.

Medical sources told Al Jazeera that Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since early this morning have killed 23 Palestinians, including 13 in northern Gaza.
