An emperor penguin found malnourished far from its Antarctic home on the Australian south coast is being cared for by a wildlife expert, a government department said Monday.

An emperor penguin was rescued from an Australian beach after presumably making a 2,000-mile trek from its Antarctic habitat.

The emperor penguin was found on an Australian beach near the coastal town of Denmark, more than 2,200 miles from its Antarctic habitat.
