PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fallen Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Battalion Chief John Walsh is set to be laid to rest today following a funeral mass at St. Paul Cathedral in the city's Oakland neighborhood. Chief Walsh died last week of a medical emergency while in command of a fire scene in the city's East Hills neighborhood.

Hundreds of people came to a funeral home in Green Tree to pay their respects and give their final goodbyes to Battalion Chief John Walsh. One family member tells Action News 4 he died doing what he loved. An honor salute finished out the day to honor Walsh, who died of a medical emergency while responding to a fire in East Hills last week.
