Ten-year-old Sara Sharif likely experienced "daily pain and suffering" over several weeks before her death, a court heard. Injuries she suffered before her body was found at her family home in August last year were "noticeable" and "obvious", expert witness Niall Martin told the Old Bailey.

Sara Sharif’s teacher twice saw her at school with bruises on her face five months before she was found dead, a jury has heard. Helen Simmons told the Old Bailey that Sara said she “had fallen over on some roller-skates" after she saw her injuries in March 2023.

She was discovered dead in a bed at the family home on Hammond Road in Woking, after her father Urfan Sharif called Surrey Police during the early hours of 10 August to report he had “beat her” as she was being “naughty”, and that she had died.

Sara’s body was found in a bunk bed at her home in Woking, after Sharif alerted police having fled with the family to Pakistan. The jury heard “probable human bites” on Sara’s left forearm and inner left leg were identified by a dental expert, and Sharif and Malik had been excluded as the possible biters.

A neighbour of Sara Sharif who tried to inquire about "screaming" coming from inside the 10-year-old's home had the door shut in her face, a court was told. Rebecca Spencer, who lived in a flat above the Sharif's previous family home in West Byfleet,
