External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the SCO summit in Pakistan on October 15-16, marking India's first participation in person since 2014. The visit follows an invitation from Islamabad for the meeting of Heads of Government.

Pakistani media have reported that the government has assigned the responsibility of securing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to the military under Article 245 of the Constitution.

India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, clarified on Saturday (5 October) that his upcoming visit to Islamabad is solely for the purpose of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2024, and dismissed any speculation about discussions regarding India-Pakistan relations during the trip.
