A 16-year-old died Saturday after triggering an avalanche in Turnagain Pass, Alaska. His death comes after weeks of warnings of the avalanche danger in the area and it follows the deaths of three heliskiers on March 4.

Troopers say Tucker Challan, 16, was riding Saturday on the backside of Seattle Ridge. Forecasters say he was buried under 10 feet of snow for about an hour.

Saturday’s incident, in which a teenage boy from Soldotna was buried about 10 feet deep and died, marks the second fatal avalanche in Southcentral Alaska this month.
