The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District found West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes in Evanston for the first time this year, the City announced in a Friday news release. According to the statement,

M osquitoes collected in the Rolando neighborhood of San Diego have tested positive for West Nile virus, county officials announced Friday. This marks the first time mosquitoes have tested positive in San Diego County since 2023. Four dead birds have also tested positive this year.

Licking County health officials said it's not unexpected to find West Nile virus in the county but still encouraged residents to take precautions.
