Mid-air mechanical issues forced a pair of commercial flights from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to turn back around and land shortly after takeoff this week. One occurred with an American Airlines jet on Tuesday while the other was a Delta flight on Monday.

Flight DL3067 was bound for Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL) with a scheduled arrival of 11:30. As the map shows, the Delta Air Lines aircraft did a short cycle over York County before landing at Charlotte Douglas.

“Following safety procedures, the flight crew of DL3067 returned to Charlotte after reporting a mechanical issue while en route to Atlanta,” a Delta spokesperson said. The airline apologized to customers for the delays to their travel plans. The flight had 71 customers, two pilots and three flight attendants.

On February 25, 2025, an American Airlines Airbus A321 operating Flight AA1216 from Charlotte to West Palm Beach was forced to return to Charlotte a few minutes after takeoff due to maintenance. This was the second American Airlines flight to return to the airport over the last few days.

Delta Air Lines flight 3067 returned to Charlotte Douglas International Airport within minutes of departing for Atlanta.
