The Cowboys had started the season with one of the best run games in the league, following the philosophy of Schottenheimer that he wants a team to become physical by running the ball. But in the loss to Carolina, the Cowboys gained just 31 yards, their lowest output of the season.

He put up those numbers without several key offensive starters, including wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle), wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot) and offensive guard Tyler Booker (ankle). Lamb and Booker have both been out since Week 3, after sustaining their injuries against the Chicago Bears.

The Panthers were able to defeat the Cowboys with a game-winning field goal to get their second-straight victory.

While the Dallas Cowboys have struggled on the defensive side early in the 2025 season, Dak Prescott and the offense are keeping pace with the NFL’s best. Six games into the season, the Prescott-led group ranks first in offensive yards per game and sits in the top five in scoring offense.

Going into Week 7, the Commanders and Daniels are looking to move back above .500, with a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The Commanders are 1-0 in NFC East matchups to start the year, defeating the New York Giants in the season opener.
