Load cells are transducers that convert force into an electrical output. There are several types categorized by their construction, method of operation, or output signal.

For this reason, although load cell signal output is linear all the way down to zero, try not to exceed a 40:1 tension range from an individual load cell. These applications require special attention.

To provide excitation to the load cells and measure the voltage output, you usually want to use an amplifier to condition the circuit.
