North Carolinians have two opportunities this week to win life-changing prizes as the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots combined now exceed $1 billion.

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, a Powerball ticket sold at the Circle K on Franklin Street on Chapel Hill won $50,000 in Saturday night’s drawing. The lucky ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn as well as the red Powerball to win that amount.

Nearly 550,000 Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.

The Michigan-based club hit five matching numbers to win $2 million in the Powerball game, marking another lucky moment for local players.
