At least 69 people have been rescued after the MV Barima sank late Saturday off the Essequibo coast, and 27 bodies have been found so far — four of them children, Prime Minister Mark Phillips said.

Guyana's government said on Monday that 10 bodies ​had been recovered from a ferry ‌that capsized off the coast over the weekend with 133 people on board.

The number of people ​who have been rescued has ⁠risen to ⁠77, the ⁠government ​added.
