More than 12,000 new students are arriving to campuses at Morris, Duluth, Crookston, Rochester and the Twin Cities.

The in-state tuition rate would go up 6.5% for students at the Rochester and Twin Cities campuses, while out-of-state tuition would rise by 7.5% in the Twin Cities.

While official enrollment data will be released later in September, Chancellor Janet Schrunk Ericksen is happy to note that applications to UMN Morris were up 30% for the 2025-26 academic year.

The university's Board of Regents approved the move last month; the $100-per-term fee will go to pay student athletes and help with "general cost increases" within the athletics department.
