India's first indigenously-designed 7 nanometer computer processor 'Shakti' is expected to be ready by 2028, which can be produced at chip plant locally in future, the IIT Madras-based team informed Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday.
NVIDIA has taken a big step towards strengthening its domestic chip manufacturing, revealing the first Blackwell wafer made in the US. The hardware company assembled the wafer, which is the base material for NVIDIA's AI chips, in TSMC's semiconductor manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
The move comes as the Dutch government — caught in the middle of the trade war between the U.S. and China — is concerned about intellectual property transfers of Nexperia assets to China. The order is intended to prevent goods manufactured by Nexperia from becoming unavailable. Day-to-day operations at the company will continue, the Ministry said.
The chipmaker applied to the National Science and Technology Council’s Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau on Friday to begin construction of its A14 fab. The facility is expected to require an initial investment of around NT$1.5 trillion (US$49 billion), with mass production scheduled for the second half of 2028.
