Bin strikes in Birmingham could go on for months, a union has warned. Unite members have staged a series of one-day walkouts since January, but on Wednesday the trade union announced refuse workers would move to all-out strikes from 11 March.

Piles of rubbish bags, overflowing bins and fears over rats are issues concerning Brummies as the bin strike rumbles on.

Strike action has been escalated by bin workers in Birmingham, and will become an indefinite all-out strike in March. More than 350 workers voted for the industrial action in December over what Unite the Union called an "attack on their pay and [working] conditions" by employer Birmingham City Council.

Birmingham City Council has warned there could be “some disruption” to a £60 waste collection service amid the ongoing bin strike. It’s been a difficult period for the city since the industrial action started last month, with residents having to put up with overflowing bins and piles of rubbish bags in their streets.
