BEREA, Ohio — Jameis Winston has been the Browns’ inspirational leader since he and his booming voice and larger-than-life presence showed up on the Browns’ doorstep in March when he signed here as a free agent. Now, stepping in as the starter, he knows his words and actions will pack even more of a wallop.

Jameis Winston will start at quarterback on Sunday against Baltimore for the freefalling Cleveland Browns, who lost Deshaun Watson last week with a season-ending Achilles tendon injury. Winston will be making his first start since 2022 when he was with New Orleans.

Winston, a 10-year veteran who is in his first season with the Browns, entered last week's game after both Watson and fellow backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson sustained injuries. He threw a late touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku in Cleveland's eventual 21-14 loss.
