Prince Andrew's decision to give up his Duke of York title was described as a "vindication" by the family of late Epstein survivor Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

Prince Andrew said he was giving up the title due to the "continued accusations" around his links with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though said he continued to "vigorously deny" the allegations.

After years of upset caused by his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, he has done the family one favour by personally announcing that he will no longer use his titles.

In 2022, she filed a lawsuit accusing Prince Andrew of rape, saying she was trafficked by Epstein to London, New York and the U.S. Virgin Islands to have sex with the royal and feared death if she refused. Andrew denied the allegations and settled out of court for an undisclosed sum while denying liability.
