North Andover, Massachusetts police officer Kelsey Fitzsimmons is in stable condition, a day after she was shot​ by a fellow officer as she was served with a restraining order.

Kelsey Fitzsimmons was issued a suspension order this week. She joined the North Andover Police Department last spring.

A lawyer for the officer said she was "manifesting symptoms of postpartum depression" at the time of the incident.

At the time of the incident, she was on administrative leave and had submitted a request to have her department-issued weapon returned.

She was put on administrative leave on April 30, and her license to carry weapons was temporarily revoked due to her recent mental health hospitalization.
