Walmart’s employees and their dependents are being offered expanded cancer treatment with doctors at the Mayo Clinic through the retailer’s insurance coverage.

Walmart is expanding the Cancer Centers of Excellence. A collaboration with Mayo Clinic, the center gives associates diagnosed with cancer access to experts at Mayo Clinic.

(ABC 6 News) — Those working at Walmart and their families will soon have more cancer treatment options at Mayo Clinic. Those covered by Walmart’s insurance and diagnosed with most types of cancer will be able to get a second opinion from Mayo Clinic. Then, they can travel to Mayo for treatment if needed.

Walmart is making its Centers of Excellence (COE) associate health benefit available to even more of its employees currently battling cancer. Previously, the program centered around the most prevalent cancers, such as breast, lung, colon and prostate, but now eligible Walmart medical plans cover care for virtually any cancer.
