Demystifying the Michelin Guide and its stars for Vancouver restaurants
J.C. Poirier, chef and owner of St. Lawrence restaurant and with one star for three years, agrees that Michelin benefits the city. “It’s good for the city’s visibility in the world. Michelin has been around for so long, it’s very well respected, especially in Europe.” And for his restaurant, he feels “a star shines like in the sky.”

Michelin Guide: 76 Vancouver restaurants honoured in 2024 edition of prestigious list
All told, with additions and losses, there are 76 Michelin Guide-recognized restaurants in Vancouver for 2024. The Young Chef Award was given out in Vancouver for a second year, going to Masuda of the newly-starred Sushi Masuda; last year's inaugural winner was Warren Chow of Wildlight Kitchen & Bar.
