Pittsburgh to honor those who served with Veterans Day Parade. Here's what to know.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh will honor those who have served with its annual Veterans Day Parade on Monday. The parade, which is one of America's longest-running since 1919, is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Liberty Avenue. The parade marches to the reviewing stage at Fifth and Liberty avenues before ending at Commonwealth Place.
Here’s what’s closed in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County on Veterans Day
Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s administrative offices and Downtown Service Center will be closed on Veterans Day. Buses will operate regular weekday service, but several routes will be detoured for the parade. Detours are expected to begin around 9 a.m. and finish around 2:30 p.m. Find details about detours for specific bus routes here.
McKeesport, Pa. (KDKA) -- Students at South Allegheny Elementary school celebrated local veterans at an event Friday morning.
Some light showers are possible early in the morning, but the heaviest rain will move through from noon to 5 p.m.
This year, in addition to the warm food and good company at the event, the veterans were treated to a special letter from fifth grader Kenzi Miller.
