We first brought you the story last February when the county parks department said it wanted to reopen roads that had been closed for more than a decade. On Thursday night, protesters made one last effort to keep cars out.

A community came together in Fair Oaks to protest against the county reopening a road that turned into a popular walking trail during its closure.

The county has said reopening the trail is a way to make sure more people can use it after vehicle access was closed in 2009 due to budget constraints.
