Following a recent national assessment that found decreases in Iowa students’ mathematics scores, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced legislation Monday to help identify and assist students struggling with math.

The proposed bill would require school districts to adopt a policy banning the use of personal electronic devices — including cell phones, video game devices and portable media players — during instructional time.
