The first-gen Oldsmobile 88 remained in production until 1953. In 1952, Oldsmobile introduced a Super 88 model with a four-barrel carburetor version of the Rocket 88, rated at 160 horsepower.
Tagged as the King of NASCAR, the racing version of the Oldsmobile 88 achieved a string of awards in the competition, winning six of nine races in 1949, 10 of 19 in 1950, and 20 of 41 in 1952.
The two smaller Olds series, including the Rocket 88, rode a 119.5” wheelbase while the 98 series was carried on 122 inches. Overall length was 202 and 209 inches respectively.
