Too much moose meat and antlers strapped to a wing caused a deadly small plane crash in Alaska, a nearly two-year long investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board determined in a report released Tuesday.

A small plane that crashed in 2023 carrying moose meat in Alaska, killing the husband of former U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola, was overweight and encountered drag from antlers mounted outside, the NTSB says.

Investigators have released an inquiry into the fatal crash in a mountainous area, where Eugene Peltola Jr., the husband of former U.S. Representative Mary Peltola, was killed in 2023.
