Nearly 350 hostages were rescued at the end of a deadly standoff between Pakistan’s military and armed militants who hijacked a train in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan, a security source told CNN Wednesday.

A passenger train in Pakistan's Balochistan province came under a major attack on Tuesday, forcing the train to derail and allowing enough time for the attackers to take over 100 passengers hostage.

Despite the hijack of around 450 passengers and an ongoing military operation against the Baloch militants, there was no response from the top Pakistani leadership.
