An American Airlines flight arriving at Ronald Reagan National Airport was forced to abandon its landing to avoid another aircraft Tuesday, the New York Times reported, less than a month after a midair collision killed 67 people near the same airport and roughly 90 minutes before another close call between a passenger plane and a private jet in Chicago.

An American Airlines plane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter outside Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C. Wednesday night. A D.C. fire official said Thursday that “we don't think there are any survivors from this accident" and "we are switching from a rescue operation to a recovery operation.

The near misses on Tuesday came after a string of aviation disasters, including the midair collision between an Army helicopter and a passenger jet last month that killed 67 people.
