Will Smith honored the late musical legend and Hollywood icon Quincy Jones with a touching message shared on social media, looking back on their time working together on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Will Smith shared a touching tribute to Quincy Jones after confirmation of the latter’s passing. On social media, the 56-year-old spoke from the heart, writing out what the legendary founder of VIBE Magazine means to him on a personal level.

"Quincy Jones is the true definition of a Mentor, a Father and a Friend," Smith wrote Monday. "He pointed me toward the greatest parts of myself. He defended me. He nurtured me. He encouraged me. He inspired me. He checked me when he needed to. He let me use his wings until mine were strong enough to fly."

Jones, who served as an executive producer and composer on the sitcom, died at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 3. He was 91
