Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables was asked about the firings around the sport during a media opportunity on Tuesday. Venables didn’t touch on any of the individuals, but labeled today as an ‘anxious time’ in college football.

To replace Riley, Oklahoma hired longtime Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables. After years of high-scoring offenses but struggling defenses under Riley, Sooners fans were convinced that Venables could inject an increased level of physicality and toughness into their program.

Sooners were dumped by Ole Miss on Saturday and now visit No. 14 Tennessee this week, but after finding all the reasons for defeat, Venables remains upbeat.
