A powerful fall storm that delivered rain and snow to Northern California this week will continue to pummel the region and impact weather conditions this weekend as it slides toward Southern California.

An atmospheric river is bringing rain to Central California on Monday and Tuesday, NWS Weather Prediction Center meteorologist Allison Santorelli told Newsweek. One of the biggest impacts will be snow in the Sierra Nevada, and Santorelli said there could be travel problems in the mountain passes.

A major storm with heavy snow and record rain that's moving through Northern California has toppled trees, closed roads and prompted evacuations in some areas after knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of people in Washington and Oregon.
