As Hurricane Erin moves out to sea, forecasters on Aug. 22 are keeping watch on two other areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic Ocean.

Strong winds and waves from Hurricane Erin have battered Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard as dangerous rip currents continue to threaten from the Carolinas to New England.
SCITUATE - High tide collided with Hurricane Erin’s powerful winds Friday, driving waves over 10 feet high into the rocky shores of beaches along the South Shore. The pungent smell of salt water filled the air. The high surf drew waves of onlookers to Humarock Beach here and Brant Rock in Marshfield.
Central Pennsylvania residents can expect a gradual weather shift over the next 24 hours, with Hurricane Erin’s remnants driving cloudy conditions today and a potential for severe thunderstorms developing Sunday.
Governor Josh Stein was on the coast on Friday after Hurricane Erin moved further offshore into the Atlantic Ocean. The storm brought some damage to coastal towns, but overall, the Governor says the state is in good shape.
"Thankfully there were no employees or patrons present during the time of the fire," the restaurant owners said.
Hurricane Erin is entering the first stages of a post-tropical transition as it continues to move away from the eastern coast of the United States.
