The road to Florida International University for the state championship game in December starts now. Here's how the first round of the playoffs shape up.

The most wonderful time of the year is here, meaning the high school football postseason. We put on our prognosticator glasses and saw what's in store for each local team.

Week 13 of the high school football season includes two Wednesday bowl games, followed by Round 1 of the FHSAA playoffs on Friday — with Jones, Lake Mary, Edgewater, DP, Osceola, Bishop

Broughton has thrown for 1,704 yards and 21 touchdowns and has rushed for 628 yards and eight scores for Fleming Island. Burney has 57 receptions for 1012 yards and 17 touchdowns. Running back Dehmir Jackson has 1,092 yards and 13 scores.

One elimination from the FHSAA playoffs is guaranteed, with an all-local matchup between Spruce Creek and Flagler Palm Coast. University joins FPC as a first-round host, welcoming Winter Park to town. DeLand, Mainland and New Smyrna Beach hit the road to Lake Mary, Lincoln and Lake Wales, respectively.
