BIRMINGHAM, England (Reuters) -England stumbled to 77-3 to trail India by 510 runs on day two of the second test after skipper Shubman Gill scored a record-breaking 269 and their seamers struck early to put the tourists in a commanding position at Edgbaston on Thursday.

Captain Shubman Gill is 265 not out at tea as he and Washington Sundar have led India closer to 600 runs against England on day two of the second test in Birmingham.

At the start of the day, resuming from an overnight strong position, India added 109 runs in the first session while losing just one wicket. Captain Shubman Gill continued his rich form, bringing up his maiden Test 150 and becoming only the second Indian skipper after Mohammad Azharuddin to do so.
