The incident started in the 800 block of West Hillcrest Avenue when Dayton police responded to reports of a kidnapping around 1:40 p.m.

An Albuquerque man was arrested Wednesday in an alleged kidnapping scheme in which migrants were told their bodies would be dissolved in acid if the ransom wasn’t paid.

The suspect, 28-year-old Joseph Andrade, is accused of then forcing his way into a nearby home, kidnapping a victim, and leaving in the stolen vehicle with her. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings described how officers located the Andrade and began a chase.

UNION CITY – An investigation is underway into the attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old student in Union City, police said. The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Dyer Street and Meteor Drive, according to the Union City Police Department.
